Chandrayaan-3 lands on Moon

“Chandrayaan-3 Mission: ‘India, I reached my destination and you too!’ Chandrayaan-3 has successfully soft-landed on the moon! Congratulations, India!,” it said in a post. 

In a major step for India’s space programme, India’s Chandrayaan-3 lunar mission landed on the moon’s south pole at 6:04 p.m. Wednesday. With this, India has joined an exclusive club of four countries and is the first country to land on the uncharted surface. India made history when ISRO’s ambitious third lunar mission landed on the lunar surface.

The LM, consisting of the lander (Vikram) and the 26-kg rover (Pragyan), landed near the moon’s south pole at 6:04 p.m., less than a week after a similar Russian lander crashed, giving India’s space prowess a major boost.

This landing on the moon, in its second attempt in four years, makes India the fourth country to master soft-landing technology on the lunar surface, after the United States, China and the former Soviet Union.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi called it a “joyous occasion” for a great success and said, “This success belongs to all humanity.”

“India’s successful lunar mission is not India’s alone, but the world is witnessing India’s G20 presidency this year. Our ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’ approach is resonating around the world. This people-centric approach that we are presenting has been welcomed around the world. Our moon mission is also based on the same people-centric approach. Therefore, this success belongs to the entire humanity,” said Prime Minister Modi.

With the success of #Chandrayaan3 mission, India will be the first nation to touch the South Pole of the Moon. The new space odyssey raises India’s celestial ambitions to new heights and elevates the country as a launch pad for space projects in the world. It opens the gateway to space for Indian companies and will create a plethora of employment opportunities for our youth.
