Rewrite the sentence using degree of comparison – 01 Mark

1] There are three types of degree
a) Positive degree,
b) comparative degree &
c) superlative degree.

2] For three types of degree there are three types of adjective.

3] We can change superlative to comparative and positive. There two types of superlative degree a) One of the type & b) The type

4] But comparative to positive and positive to comparative.

a) Superlative to Comparative of One of the type.

Superlative:
Sub + Verb+ one of the + superlative adjective + obj.
Comparative:
Sub + Verb+ comparative adjective+ than most other + obj.

(begin the answer with Sub + Verb- remove one of the, write comparative adjective+ than most other at last write obj.)

b) Superlative to Positive of One of the type.

Super: Sub + Verb+ one of the + superlative adjective + obj.

Posi : Very few obj + Verb+ as positive adjective as+ Sub.

(begin the answer with  Very few obj + Verb remove one of the, write positive adjective between as — as+ at last write Sub.)

Write Superlative to comparative and positive

1] Temperature is one of the most important physical factors.

Super: Sub + Verb + the + superlative adjective + obj.

Comp: Sub + Verb+ comparative adjective+ than any other + obj.

(begin the answer with Sub + Verb- remove the, write comparative adjective+ than any other at last write obj.)

d) Superlative to Positive of  the type.

Super: Sub + Verb+ the + superlative adjective + obj.

Posi : No other + obj + Verb+ as positive adjective as+ Sub.

(begin the answer with  No other + obj + Verb remove the, write positive adjective between as — as+ at last write Sub.)

e) Comparative to Positive .

Sub+ verb +com. Adj+ than + Obj

Obj +verb(not) +as posi—as + sub

1] Begin the answer with obj+ verb (not)

2] Use positive adjective between as—as at last write sub.

3] Change the places of the words in which there is comparison.

Examples:

1] Mother is more than the Earth. (Make positive)

Posi: 

2] His products are cheaper than my products.

Ans: 

3] A foolish friend can be more dangerous than a wise enemy.

4] There are more trees than people in south Melbourne.

Ans: 

5] It is more important to respect the subordinate than the superior.

f) Positive to comparative.

Sub+ verb—as positive—as+ obj

Obj+ verb (not) + com.Adj+ than +sub

1] Begin the answer with obj+ verb (not)

2] Write comparative adjective+ than at last write ‘sub’

Examples.

1] The lunch and the honey were not as delicious as these kinds of information.

Ans: 

2] Yamunotri is not as attractive as Gangotri.

Ans: 

3] Nepolean was not as great as Shivaji Maharaj.

Ans: 

4] It is as good to work as to boast.

Ans: 

5] The shame lies not as much in going to jail as in commuting the offence.
