Sabalenka Dominates US Open Quarterfinals

Aryna Sabalenka defeated Zheng Qinwen for the second consecutive US Open quarterfinal, winning 6-1, 6-2.

Sabalenka overpowered Zheng in an entirely one-sided match, securing her spot in the semifinals.

The two have a history, with Sabalenka defeating Zheng earlier this year in the Australian Open final, while Zheng won gold at the Paris Olympics.

Sabalenka entered the match as the fresher player, having dropped only one set in the tournament and was on a nine-match winning streak.

Zheng struggled with her serve and groundstrokes, hitting only 8 winners to 18 errors throughout the match.

Sabalenka took the first set 6-1 in just 35 minutes, dominating Zheng who appeared flustered and frustrated.

Despite a brief fightback from Zheng, Sabalenka maintained control and won the second set 6-2.

Sabalenka will face Emma Navarro, the American breakout star, in the semifinals. They have split their two previous encounters.

Sabalenka humorously acknowledged that the crowd might back Navarro in the semifinals, jokingly offering to buy drinks for the fans.

If Sabalenka reaches the final and faces Iga Swiatek, she can draw confidence from her recent victory over the world No. 1 at the Cincinnati Open.
