PARIS 2024: MANU BHAKER WINS BRONZE; BECOMES FIRST INDIAN WOMAN TO WIN SHOOTING MEDAL AT OLYMPICS

Manu Bhaker won the bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event at Paris 2024 on Sunday

She created history by becoming the first Indian woman to win an Olympic shooting medal.

This was India’s fifth Olympic medal in shooting and the first in any sport at Paris 2024.

 India won shooting medals at three consecutive Olympics from Athens 2004 to London 2012

The 22-year-old Manu Bhaker scored 221.7 to finish third in the eight-woman final.

Manu Bhaker was born in Goria, a small village in Jhajjar, Haryana, India. She was introduced to shooting at a young age.

At the age of 16, she won two gold medals at the 2018 ISSF World Cup in Mexico, announcing her arrival on the global stage.

 In 2018, she won the gold medal in the Commonwealth Games in Australia, setting a new record in the women’s 10m air pistol event.
